Dr. Stephanie Gorka is a clinical psychologist, research Assistant Professor, and Associate Director of the UIC Recovery Clinic. She completed both her doctoral degree and clinical psychology internship at UIC. Her research focuses on the intersection of addiction and anxiety and how symptoms of both disorders develop, interact, and influence behavior over time. Her work utilizes a variety of psychophysiological and neuroscience tools aimed at identifying objective, brain-behavior targets for clinical prevention and intervention. It is her ultimate goal to better understand who is vulnerable to addiction and anxiety, and why/how, to ultimately develop more accurate and effective clinical diagnostic tools and treatments.
