Dr. Jacobs worked on the National Institute of Mental Health’s largest investigation of treatments for adolescent depression and made specific contributions to understanding cognitive mediators of depression change.
Currently, Dr. Jacobs is focused on understanding how to prevent depressive relapse and help adolescents stay well as they transition into adulthood. Her current project uses fMRI to examine thinking patterns such as rumination among adolescents and tests whether brain functioning and connectivity can be changed to promote wellness.
