Dr. Nathan’s interests are in the clinical, educational and research arenas. Clinically, he has focused on treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and various anxiety disorders. He has an interest and experience in providing psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy, when possible and indicated.

He has also focused on treatment of adults with ADHD and co-morbid illnesses. Also, he has focused on treatment of patients with HIV and mental illness. Educationally, Dr. Nathan is actively engaged in didactic instruction and psychotherapy supervision of psychiatry residents. He also provides mentorship and didactic education to medical students. He is currently developing and researching a novel approach to improving empathy in students, residents, and other health care workers. He is a study physician on a few research projects, as well.
